Who will follow in David Martinez’s footsteps? A new image gives us a sneak peek at the main character of the second season of Edgerunners.

David Martinez is dead, and his crew has been dismantled. So for Season 2 of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a new crew is needed… one we haven’t met yet.Concrete details won’t be available until Anime Expo 2026, which takes place from July 2–5.

But at least one image of the new main character from the Netflix series has now been revealed. While this doesn’t reveal anything about her name or backstory, it does come with a pretty clear hint about her class.

This is what the main character of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 looks like

After all, both Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and CD Projekt Red’s video game are based on Mike Pondsmith’s tabletop role-playing game Cyberpunk 2020 and Red, respectively. And so far, the adaptations have always adhered to the ruleset of their source material.

For example, David Martinez, Rebecca, and Dorio can be classified as Solo characters, while Lucy and Kiwi act as Netrunners. As for the main character of Edgerunners 2, it seems likely that he or she belongs to theclassMedia(i.e., Media). The obvious clue: a handheld camera that is clearly visible in the image.

What exactly is the Media class? Here is the official description from theCyberpunk Wiki:

Media figures range from desperate, attention-seeking sensationalists to demagogues who manipulate the masses. The playable characters, however, are generally credible and outspoken outsiders in a world flooded with corporate media stooges. As long as they maintain their credibility as relevant journalists, people believe them—even when there are no facts to back up their claims.

The standardequipmentof a journalist typically includes a camera and a press pass to stand up to the big megacorporations. Journalists try to bring corruption and abuses to light, and in doing so, they are sometimes willing to cross a line or two.

With the right skill build forCredibility(i.e., credibility), Medias usually have the support of the general public on their side. Some even go so far as to enlist the police or even the military for their own purposes.

Whether the main character of the second season of Edgerunners is actually a Media class has, of course, not been officially confirmed. But exploring Night City from this perspective certainly holds a lot of potential.

In Cyberpunk 2077, for example, we encounter press representatives such as Lyle Thompson in a flashback or Regina Jones, who—at that point in the game—is working as a fixer.

It’s currently unknown when Season 2 of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will premiere on Netflix. We can probably expect it by the end of 2026 or early 2027. Maybe we’ll get an answer as early as around July 2, when we’ll likely also get to see the first trailer. Fingers crossed.
