When does a game get its last patch? Who decides whether to work on DLCs or addons? Piranha Bytes, the developers of Elex 2, have a clear opinion on this: “We don’t like stinking DLCs!”

Together with other German developers, they reflect in the video on when it makes more sense to already plan the successor instead of dreaming up an addon. With patches and expansions, in the worst case you lose money, the team behind the game is in the mood for something new and parts of the studio get bored if they are just working on bug fixes.

DevPlay brings together German studio heads with many years of experience in the games industry. Together with their guests, they give their professional assessment of current topics or talk about their experiences as developers. In this episode they are joined by:

–  Jan Theysen, CEO and Creative Director of King Art (Iron Harvest)

Björn Pankratz, Creative Director of Piranha Bytes (Elex 2)

Adrian Goersch, Managing Director of Black Forest Games (Destroy All Humans!)
