Esports legend ‘Ambition’ may have retired after his 2017 Worlds win, but he is letting his passion for League of Legends and esports live on.

Kang ‘Ambition‘ Chan-yong is a legend in esports.  In 2017, he won the League of Legends World Championship “Worlds” together with Samsung Galaxy. But before his career in LoL even began, he was already one of the best Starcraft players in the world.

After he went into “retirement” in 2018, it was initially quiet around the esport player. But his passion and his heart for the scene live on. It was recently revealed that the ex-jungler has named his child after one of the most important champs of his career: Jarvan IV.

According to the Korean website (Daily Esports), the exact name of Kang Chan-yong’s son is “Jarvan V“. While this doesn’t make his name exactly like the popular League of Legends jungler, there’s no denying the obvious connection.

Ambition’s connection to Jarvan IV

Champion Jarvan IV means a lot to the former SSG youngster. After his success in 2017, he chose him as the champion for the exclusive Worlds skins. In an interview with (InvenGlobal), the player spoke about the importance of the champion in his career:

I want Jarvan to be my skin. Jarvan really fits perfectly with me.

In the music video for the Worlds song “Rise“, you can also see Ambition battling the legendary T1 Midlaner Faker with Jarvan’s spear, in reference to the 2017 finale.

Although naming your child after a League of Legends character may sound a little strange at first, it clearly shows the impact the game and esports scene have had on Ambition’s life. He acknowledges this by passing on his passion to his son.
