After persistent criticism, Riot Games is changing the matchmaking in League of Legends. In addition, the developer is working on a “social leaderboard” and the clash rewards.

Riot Games announced several adjustments to the matchmaking in League of Legends last week. In an update, the developer is working on the position selection and the autofill system, among other things.

In League of Legends, the autofill is to be reduced from the current two to three percent to 0.6 percent of players in the queue. At the same time, the time spent waiting is to be reduced by ten percent. A test run by Riot Games in this context checks that players do not receive their secondary role significantly more often.

Revision of points forfeiture due to inactivity
As a further construction site, Riot Games is working on the point decay due to inactivity in the highest part of the Ranked Ladder, namely in the better Diamond area and Master as well as the tiers above. With timeouts, the best players should not end up in regions where they are simply underchallenged.

The planned “Social Leaderboard” is intended to enable comparison with friends and thus add more spice to advancement in the Ladder. With regard to the Clash Rewards, the visibility of the rewards is also to be improved. Players should thus be better motivated and not throw in the towel after the first two tournament defeats. Riot Games is currently planning minor revisions to its title, with major revisions to follow in 2022.
