After PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, it’s the PC version’s turn: GTA 5 has finally received the big free upgrade.
Console gamers have been enjoying it for some time now; after around three years, PC gamers are finally getting their turn.
The long-awaited next-gen update of GTA 5 for PC was finally released on March 4!
We’ll tell you what’s in the update, what it means for your saves and what’s going on in GTA Online alongside the latest update.
The most important next-gen features at a glance
Most of the content in the next-gen version affects the multiplayer modeGTA Online. However, technical improvements also affect the single-player campaign of GTA 5. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- The return of wildlife and thus wildlife photography as a side activity.
- New vehicles previously available exclusively on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
- Revised career progression menu to unlock new rewards.
- Technical improvements such as ray tracing, DLSS 3, FSR 3.0, faster loading times thanks to DirectStorage – but also higher system requirements.
When it starts?
GTA 5 Enhanced is now available in the PC stores. You can find the new version atSteamor in theEpic Storeor directly in the in-houseRockstar Games Launcher The upgrade is free for all owners of the game. Those who do not upgrade will keep the old version as “GTA 5 Legacy” in their library.
How to transfer your savegame
To transfer your single-player progress to the new, better version of GTA, you must first manually transfer your PC saves to the Enhanced Edition.
To do this, call up the menu in the game, navigate to the tabGame
and select the menu itemUpload savegame
from there.
The Legacy save will be uploaded to a Rockstar server, converted and will then be available in the Enhanced version of GTA 5.

But beware: There’s no going back after the change. After the version upgrade, you will no longer be able to play Enhanced missions in the Legacy version or play together with players who are still using the old GTA version.
What else is happening in GTA Online?
In the course of the next-gen update, GTA 5 is not only getting better overall,but Rockstar is also providing the online mode with new content today. For GTA Online, the updateOscar Guzman flies again

From the old McKenzie field hangar, you set out to take your gunrunning business to a new level and outsmart the nasty Eberhard Corporation.
