Gamesbeat claims to have learned from internal sources that GTA 6 will be released on PC just a few months after its console launch. The site is considered reliable.

If this new information is accurate, PC gamers will have to wait much less time for GTA 6 than is typical for other Rockstar games. As the U.S. gaming website Gamesbeat recently revealed in an article, Rockstar is reportedly expecting the PC version to launch in just a few months!

The information is based on four internal sources at Gamesbeat, all of whom state that the PC version is set to be released as early as the first quarter of 2027.

GTA 6 for PC by March at the latest

Gamesbeat is considered a trustworthy website that wouldn’t just spread baseless rumors. Therefore, their statement regarding the anonymous sources is certainly credible. However, this is not an official announcement from Rockstar! A final shred of doubt therefore remains.

If the information is correct and GTA 6 is released for PC in the first quarter, you can expect a version as early as January and no later than March. January would be quite unusual for Rockstar. For comparison:

  • There was a gap of nearly two years between the console and PC releases of GTA 5.
  • There were 11 months between the console and PC releases of Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • And while this is more of an amusing fact than a real benchmark: Red Dead Redemption 1 wasn’t released for PC until a full 13 years after its launch on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Even if GTA 6 were to be released for PC in March, that would still be the shortest wait—four months—for a Rockstar open-world game to date. Gamesbeat has reached out to Rockstar for a statement but has not yet received a response.

Rockstar Games on PC

As a reminder: GTA 6 is already scheduled for release on consoles on November 19. So it still stands that Rockstar will release the game on consoles first. This is also because the developer’s player base has traditionally been much larger on consoles than on PC.

However, Rockstar isn’t underestimating the PC either. Especially with a massive project like GTA 6, the company certainly won’t pass up any opportunity to make a few extra dollars. And GTA 6 will definitely sell well on the PC. Even today, GTA 5 remains one of the most-played games ever on Steam.

Furthermore, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke as recently as September at an investor conference about the importance of the PC for Rockstar games. There, he said, “I’d also like to note that the PC platform is becoming increasingly important to our company over time.”
