With this mod, you can get a fully customizable over-the-shoulder camera in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The isometric view is as much a part of classic role-playing games as dice are to a D&D night, but sometimes you might just want to get a closer look at the action.

If you’d like to experience thelatest installment in the Baldur’s Gate seriesfrom a “shoulder view,”can now check out Nexus Mods. The new “Third Person Camera” mod fundamentally changes Larian Studios’ masterpiece for PC players.

With numerous customization options, it positions the camera directly behind your character and visually transforms the tactical RPG into a modern action RPG that strongly resembles titles like Dragon Age.

The Features in Detail

While Baldur’s Gate 3 does offer the option to adjust the camera angle to a slight top-down view by default, even that has its limits.

“Third Person Camera” goes significantly further and allows you to freely adjust the over-the-shoulder camera. Through a dedicated integrated menu, parameters such as the zoom factor, the angle, or the lateral distance from the character can be adjusted continuously.

The developer presented the mod in a short YouTube video.

Installation and Requirements

To enjoy the new perspective, you’ll need to visit Nexus Mods. The best way to install the mod is via the “BG3 Mod Manager.” As with many major changes to Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll also need the “Baldur’s Gate 3 Script Extender” and “MOD Configuration Manager.” Additionally, “Native Mod Loader” must be installed.

The mod’s installation is described in detail on Nexus Mods. Links to the required packages are also provided there.

Visually, the mod brings Baldur’s Gate 3 a lot closer to classic third-person RPGs likeDragon Age OriginsorThe Witcher 3. This gives players the opportunity to play the epic RPG from exactly the perspective they prefer.
