The American developer Volition is one of the old hands of the gaming industry. For 30 years, the studio has worked on franchises like Freespace, Summoner or Saints Row. Unfortunately, the reboot of the latter was not well received by the community at all.

Although the (official announcement) talks about “restructuring measures”, the Saints Row flop is also likely to be a reason for the studio’s closure.

It is striking that this sad news is being shared in an unusual way at a questionable time. While corporate social media is entirely silent, the message can only be found on Volition’s (official website) and on its LinkedIn profile – and this while the review embargo of Starfield is falling.

It almost seems like the announcement should be swept under the carpet.
