Tim Caine tells us that various sequels were planned for Vampire: Bloodlines, in which a vampire apocalypse was to loom.

Tim Cain, the creator of Fallout, also worked on Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines some 20 years ago. The vampire role-playing game still enjoys an excellent reputation among many fans today, despite its technically lousy release condition.

Now the well-known developer reveals (on his YouTube channel) that he and the studio he founded, Troika Games, had originally planned an entire trilogy, but forgot it.

This is what you could have expected in the Vampire: Bloodline trilogy

The veteran developer recently unearthed two documents from his trove detailing the rough history of the sequels he hadforgotten

According to Cain, these were then probably solicited by publisher Activision, in case Bloodlines was a success. As is well known, this did not happen, as they had not done themselves any great favours with the simultaneous release of Half-Life 2.

This is what the games are about: The first sequel should have the title Exodus and directly follow Bloodlines. Gehenna is at the centre of the plot. In this vampiric apocalypse event, the 13 founders of the 13 different vampire families of the World of Darkness universe are to return and literally devour their descendants. The original vampire Caine is also to be resurrected in the process.

Your character therefore wants to escape and ends up in a small town called Barstow:

Apparently Gehenna is just around the corner and many vampires are trying to get out of it. You go to Barstow because that”s the least likely place for vampires to go, and not only are you being followed, but there are already some vampires in Barstow so it”s a question of whether they”re going to help you or hurt you. But Barstow is where all the action is.

The finale of the trilogy was to be subtitled Final Nights . According to Cain, Part 3 was to be set in Las Vegas, again a major city. Since his records are not complete, Cain cannot say much about the game, but he is sure that Gehenna was to become a reality there.

The developer has also found a second document in which Bloodlines is continued with only one game, which in turn should be called Bloodhunt.

Here again, your character flees the impending Gehenna and ends up back in Barstow, where he is attacked at a truck stop by all those he infuriated in Bloodlines Again, in the second act of the game, the journey should continue to Las Vegas

The official sequel Bloodlines 2 has been in development hell for several years: most recently, developer Hardsuit Labs was fired by publisher Paradox in 2021, who is currently working on the title is unknown.

By the way: Tim Cain regularly reveals cool details about games he has developed on his YouTube channel. For Fallout fans, there was recently an exciting video in which 26 years after the release, he revealed the true purpose of the Vaults.

What do you think of these rough ideas? Would you have liked to play Tim Caine”s Bloodlines sequel or are you still looking forward to the real Bloodlines 2, which will tell a completely different story?
