The Steam Deck has reportedly arrived at Valve. This means there’s hardly anything standing in the way of a summer release.

After Valve recently announcedthat both the Steam Machine and the VR headset Frame are set to launch this summer, more details are now available

As Valve expert Brad Lynch documents on X, the cargo ship Posen arrived in Los Angeles on June 10 with the first mass-production batches of the Steam Frame.

What the Import Data Really Shows

The numbers sound cryptic at first, but they’re interesting. According to import data, Valve’s distributor Ceva unloaded approximately 32 tons of “Virtual Reality Devices” for Valve. Minus packaging and container weight, that leaves about 13 tons of actual hardware (viaThe Verge).

Specifically, this means:

  • Valve is likely importing the Steam Frame right now. A summer release cannot be ruled out.
  • Each headset weighs 654 grams, including the controller.
  • That amounts to approximately 20,000 units in this first shipment.

Since Valve distinguishes between “game consoles” and “virtual reality devices” in its import documents, we can assume with far greater certainty that the Steam Machine refers to the 50,000 units the company previously stockpiled.

Only 20,000 units?Considering the high demand for Steam controllers, one might think 20,000 units is a bit low, but there’s still enough time before the release for more imports.

What does this mean for you?

The Steam Deck is set to hit the market this summer, but Valve had originally promised a release as early as spring 2026. In February, Valve then announced that the release would have to be postponed. The reason cited was the memory crisis, which forced Valve to rethink costs and delivery.

Now, Valve seems confident that the release of the VR headset and the new console will indeed take place this summer. Recent shipments indicate that this assessment is realistic this time around.

Will you be getting Valve’s new hardware? The Steam Controller is already out. Will you be completing the trio? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
