Valheim is about to get a big update. And with the axe and the bow, it changes two weapons that become more deadly, but also fairer.
On 16 September 2021, the new big update for Valheim: Hearth & Home will finally be released. And this brings a whole range of innovations and changes, as the developer Iron Gate shows weekly with new videos. Now it is known that with the axe and the bow two important weapons will get buffs as well as nerfs.

How Hearth and Home changes two weapons

The Axe Gets More Powerful: The two-handed axe is still a slow, heavy weapon, of course. However, all in all, it gets an upgrade. The axe will be able to be swung a little faster, while several enemies can be “cut through” at the same time.

Your opponents will be thrown back even harder than before. Iron Gate wants to make the two-handed axe more attractive to players than it already is.

The bow will be fairer
: In the eyes of the developers, ranged combat with the bow was a bit too overpowered for players with a high skill. Even those who have exhausted the corresponding perks up to now can no longer immediately fully pull back an arrow with Hearth and Home.

The speed of cocking has been adjusted overall and is somewhat slower than before. On the other hand, your stamina is no longer used up quite as quickly when you hold the bow at full tension. This gives players more time to concentrate and aim.

Not the only adjustments for weapons: In the new developer video, Iron Gate talks about further balance changes for weapons, which are not specified further. Before that, however, there was already information on how the combat system and shields will be adjusted.

The new food system makes changes to blocking and parrying, while stamina has a direct effect on how fast you can strike and how much damage you can distribute.

What else Hearth & Home brings

Hearth & Home will be released on 16 September 2021 for Valheim. As well as changes to the combat system, dishes and food intake will be overhauled, while your kitchen can be upgraded – and there’s a new ingredient just for throwing up
