Finally, there’s concrete news for all the tactics fans out there:Electronic Arts and developer Bit Reactor have announced the official release date forStar Wars Zero Company.
If you’ve always wanted to command an unconventional squad of specialists through the gritty and grim corners of the Clone Wars, you should mark late summer in red on your calendar. We’ll summarize what the new strategy game has to offer for you.
Tactics in the Shadows of the Clone Wars
In Star Wars Zero Company, you take on the role of Hawks, a former officer of the Galactic Republic. Your mission is to lead the so-called Zero Company—a diverse but highly dangerous squad of professionals hailing from all corners of the galaxy. Your squad includes, among others, a genuine clone trooper, a battle-hardened Mandalorian from the ancient Verminoth clan, and a Jedi Padawan.
Together, you’ll face off against a Separatist cult known as the Infinite Spiral, led by the mysterious Kundri Fathom. The game promises a complete story that shows you the Clone Wars from a much grittier perspective than ever before.
Between turn-based battles, you retreat to your base of operations. Here, you recruit new agents, upgrade your facilities, acquire new gear, and plan your next missions at the holotable.
A dynamic galaxy map with over 150 planets ensures that your decisions have a tangible impact on the course of the campaign. On the battlefield, you can also strengthen the bonds between your characters to unlock powerful support abilities and cross-training benefits.
Greg Foertsch, CEO and Creative Director at Bit Reactor, describes the development team’s vision as follows:
“Our team has poured everything we love about Star Wars into Zero Company. Bold characters, compelling storytelling, stunning locations, and the emotional depth behind the conflicts in Star Wars have helped us create an experience that advances the tactical genre through a combination of layered gameplay and cinematic elegance.”
