There are only two topics on Steam at the moment: Counter-Strike 2 – and Resident Evil 4. The remake of Capcom”s horror classic from 2005 is moving the masses: Over 168,000 people played Leon Kennedy”s new old adventure on Saturday – a new record for the series.
At the same time, over 19,000 Steam reviews sing the praises of Resident Evil 4 Remake. The user tests paint an “extremely positive” picture with 96 percent positive reviews. This is an absolute top value and matches the very positive press reviews of the RE4 Remake!
Resident Evil 4 Remake: This is how high the player numbers are
After its release on March 24, 2023, the remake to part 4 of the Resident Evil series has become a huge hit with Steam players over the weekend. The statistics website SteamDB shows the highest value with 168,191 simultaneously active players.
This made Resident Evil 4 Remake the most played single-player game on Steam yesterday. Only the big four multiplayer titles Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Apex Legends and PUBG: Battlegrounds each managed to attract more players.

Influencer Benji-Sales points out that Resident Evil 4 Remake set a record for the series, and puts the Steam numbers for the last few installments in perspective:

- Resident Evil 2 Remake – 74,227 players
- Resident Evil 3 Remake – 60,293 players
- Resident Evil 7 – 20,449 players

Especially given the difficult PC past of Resident Evil 4 (the initial port was extremely weak), many gamers are pleased with the technical state of the remake.
