We already know that Tempest Rising will feel like a strategy game from the past, as if the last 20 years never existed. It is a love letter to the era of great RTS classics – above all Command & Conquer.

In the video The Making of Tempest Rising, the developers provide deep insights into the creation of the game and reveal details about their inspiration, design philosophy, and the careful modernization of an old formula.

“Tempest Rising is a love letter to the games of the 90s that we grew up with,” explains Kristian Kjäll of the Slipgate Ironworks studio. “We’re bringing the spirit of those days into the 21st century, but keeping the core of what made those titles great.”

In the video, the developers talk about the challenges they faced in this process and which areas were particularly important to them. Modern elements and comfort functions were also to be incorporated into the classic concept.
