AMD CEO Lisa Su confirmed during an investor meeting that Valve’s Steam Machine will launch in early 2026. Development of the SoC for the next-gen Xbox, scheduled for release in 2027, is also proceeding according to plan.

AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su confirmed during investor talks (via Yahoo Finance) regarding the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su announced specific time frames for two key gaming hardware projects.

Valve’s Steam Machine is on track for early 2026, and development of the semi-custom SoC for the next Xbox generation is proceeding as planned for a 2027 launch.

Spring 2026 increasingly likely

Su did not mention a specific date for the Steam Machine in his statements. However, Valve is “on track to deliver the AMD-powered Steam Machine early in the year.”

However, the manufacturer itself remains silent on speculation that the Steam Machine will be released in spring 2026.

Details about the possible price also remain scarce – but due to the memory crisis, it is to be feared that the Steam Machine will be more expensive than hoped for.

Xbox SoC part of long-term partnership

The statements about the upcoming Xbox console are in line with the announced long-term collaboration between AMD and Microsoft. In addition to the production of the custom chip for the next Xbox home console, handheld devices and cloud infrastructure are also expected to be part of the partnership.

Su’s target launch date for the Xbox in the next calendar year is at least consistent with a recent leak, according to which Microsoft wants to stick to a release window at the end of 2027 despite the ongoing memory crisis.
