What’s next after Elden Ring? Hidetaka Miyazaki delivers a promising update on the next game – and we may already know what it will be.

Elden Ring didn’t actually come out until February 2022. Still, From Software’s next game might not be too long in coming. Studio head Hidetaka Miyazaki reveals that one of the upcoming projects is already in the final stages of development. And it’s possible that we already know exactly what’s in store for us.

What comes next after Elden Ring

Next game almost ready

In an interview with Japanese website (4Gamer) (via PCGamer), Hidetaka Miyazaki was asked about an older comment the From Software studio head made back in 2018. At the time, Miyazaki revealed that his team would be working on three and a half games

Which games exactly was Miyazaki referring to? By now we know more:

  • A game known at the time: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
  • a then unannounced game: Elden Ring
  • the other not yet announced game: Unknown
  • half game: the PS VR-exclusive title Deracine

Miyazaki was asked about the current status of these games now, in June 2022. In response, the studio head revealed that the remaining game is still in active development and in fact already in its final stages. This means that fans of From Software may not have to wait too much longer for the studio’s next strike.

What awaits fans of From Software

Officially, it is not known what From Software is currently working on. However, a leak might have already given us the surprise in early 2022. According to this, the Elden Ring developer is currently developing a new part of the Armored Core series. Not only has concrete information about the gameplay been leaked, but also a handful of screenshots.

Armored Core is usually a rather hectic third-person shooter in which players control giant mechs in battle. However, gameplay scenes shown of the alleged From Software project are said to be reminiscent of the gameplay of Dark Souls and Co.

When could the mysterious game appear?

This question cannot be answered at the moment. After all, From Software’s latest work hasn’t even been officially announced yet. In view of Miyazaki’s statement, however, it shouldn’t be too much longer. At the moment, it is simply impossible to say exactly when the game will be released.

Elden Ring itself was announced at E3 2019. Originally, the open world Souls-like game was supposed to be released in January 2022, but after a postponement it was released on 25 February 2022. So fans only had to wait two years after the Reveal for Elden Ring’s release. If From Software’s latest project is already in the final stages of development, the wait could be even shorter.

What about DLCs for Elden Ring?

It is not officially confirmed at this time that Elden Ring will receive new addons and expansions. Many fans at least hope for it – and not without reason. Previous games like Dark Souls 3 or Bloodborne already received a decent package of post-launch content.

In addition, a financial report from Kadokawa indicates that its own parent company From Software is planning measures to continue making Elden Ring attractive to players in the future. Since the demand is definitely there, it would be quite surprising if the developers did not meet it.

However, Elden Ring players will have to be patient here too For example, a release of new content would be conceivable by the release anniversary at the latest – i.e. at the beginning of 2023 – should From Software not already take the coming Christmas business of this year with them

What are your hopes and expectations for the next game from From Software? Or for the potential expansions and DLCs for Elden Ring? Let us know in the comments!
