In Subnautica 2, a funny glitch is filling up inventories.

InSubnautica 2, gathering materials often involves dangerous dives and constantly keeping an eye on the oxygen gauge. However, those who skillfully exploit the foraging routines of the local fauna can make life on the alien planet a whole lot easier.

A fan has now discovered a fully automatic resource machine thanks to a curious glitch.

How the crabs became involuntary roommates

Reddit user Poo__Flinger actually just wanted to quietly observe the coral crabs in the game. To do so, he built a small base right in their natural habitat. But during his architectural masterpiece, two of the armored little critters got tangled up in the foundation of his underwater station.

Instead of simply getting stuck, however, the crabs continued to perform their standard animations undeterred:You see, they naturally dig up little treasures from the sand when left in peace. But since they’ve now glitched their way into the base, they’re constantly tossing their finds directly into the station’s corridors—perhaps to pay the rent.

In any case, the payoff from this bug is enormous:Within just 15 minutes, the player collected mountains of materials that were literally piling up on the floor of his base, as you can see in the pictures:

So… I accidentally have two pets that bring me resources and drop them off in my base… Lol.

The raw materials delivered include quartz, sulfur, lead, salt, copper, and titanium. The crabs even shovel animal feces onto dry land.

What sounds disgusting at first is incredibly useful in Subnautica 2: The feces are ideal for the bioreactor, guaranteeing you free and continuous power. The only things you’ll have to do without using this farming method are silver and plant fibers.

According to the Reddit user, anyone who wants to witness or take advantage of this spectacle must travel about 383 meters from the escape pod to the vicinity of the hot biome. There, the animals can even be fenced in using basic corridors and kept as livestock.
