The makers of the upcoming *Masters of the Universe* movie are showing that they’re deeply immersed in the meme universe.
Masters of the Universe is returning to theaters in 2026. Several trailers and images have already been released for the new film by director Travis Knight. A few days before the theatrical release (June 4), a new poster was unveiled—and it clearly shows that the filmmakers don’t take themselves too seriously.
Good old Skeletor (with Jared Leto inside the full-body suit) recreates a meme you’re surely familiar with: the disturbing facts. Like this one.
Skeletor totally relaxed
And here’s what the first half of it looks like in the promo for the live-action adaptation:

Like a mix of Deadpool and Rose on the Titanic, Skeletor is chilling in a movie theater seat, with popcorn and a drink within reach. Of course, this already makes it very clear just how seriously the film will take itself. Namely, hardly at all.
Let’s see how much self-deprecating humor ends up on the screen. The trailer was already full of jokes and references:
The film hits theaters on June 4, 2026. Nicholas Galitzine (Purple Hearts, Red, White & Royal Blue) plays the lead role of He-Man / Adam Glenn. His love interest Teela is portrayed by Camila Mendes (Riverdale), and her adoptive father Man-At-Arms is played by Idris Elba (Thor 3, The Losers).
And what’s the story about?Prince Adam Glenn returns to the world of Eternia after 15 years and discovers that the evil Skeletor and his minions have seized power there. To defeat him, Adam must become He-Man. A classic popcorn adventure with bulging muscles and flashy cartoon costumes.
What do you think of the visuals in the Masters of the Universe movie? Are you excited that it fully embraces the over-the-top 80s action look, staying true to the toy franchise? Or would you prefer a more grounded tone? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
We’ve linked some more movies in the box above that are coming to theaters soon (or might be coming).
