1047 Games provided one of the surprises of the past year with Splitgate. Now the developer announces that they will not release any new features for the portal shooter. But the future is already taken care of with a new title.

It came out of nowhere, struck like greased lightning and thus became one of the titles of last year. We are talking about the F2P portal shooter Splitgate. The hype caused long waiting times for fans, almost 70,000 players played the title on Steam at the same time. But the popularity unfortunately did not last long. (As a look at the SteamDB reveals), a maximum of 1,599 players had played the shooter in the last 24 hours.

It is not clear whether the developers have dropped their opinion because of declining interest or the desire for something new. What is certain in any case is that 1047 Games announced with a message to their community that there will be no more new features for the Portal shooter. The last big update will go online on September 15th in the form of a new, free Battle Pass. From then on, there will only be minor updates and bug fixes.

The developers are using the now free resources for a new project. A new portal shooter, also set in the Splitgate setting, is in development using Unreal Engine 5 . As 1047 Games explain in their (Blogpost) the title is supposed to make a revolutionary contribution to the previously known gameplay, but also be available for free  The developers are not yet revealing anything more about the new shooter.

Those who have further questions about the continuation of Splitgate can drop by the (FAQ) and the (Reddit-AMA) . There the developers give further insight into their decision making and the continued existence of the shooter.
