Last night Frogwares released the Reveal Trailer for the upcoming horror detective game Sherlock Holmes The Awakened. In addition, the Ukrainian developer studio released a video justifying their decision to launch a Kickstarter campaign.

The reveal trailer for Sherlock Holmes The Awakened is dark, menacing and atmospheric. We see the investigative duo Holmes and Watson fleeing from a group of policemen on a rowboat in the swamps of New Orleans. Both narrowly escape gunfire as they venture deeper into the swampland. As if the nocturnal swamp scenery with corpses hanging from the trees were not threatening enough, Sherlock seems to gradually lose his grip on reality. A dramatic prelude to a game that blurs the lines between mystery and supernatural madness.

The developer studio Frogwares consists of over 90 employees and has developed over 20 video games since its founding in 2000. Under normal circumstances, self-funding for Sherlock Holmes The Awakened would be a given. But the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine is also affecting the studio. The staff work from all over Europe, constantly trying to regroup and adapt. This extra work eats up capital that would actually go into game development.

That’s why Frogwares has decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign with which fans can help the Ukrainian developer studio. Those who support the team will receive, among other things, the chance to be immortalised in the game. But other digital rewards are also planned to show appreciation for the support. So if you are financially able, take a look at the Kickstarter campaign and support Frogwares in the development.

Sherlock Holmes The Awakened is scheduled for release in mid-2023 for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. If the circumstances make it possible, they would also like to release the title earlier.
