Unreal Engine 5 games don’t have a particularly good reputation. However, Arc Raiders not only looks good, but also runs smoothly and offers many graphics options.
Unreal Engine 5 was long considered a savior, but due to performance issues in many titles, it now has a rather dubious reputation among many gamers.
A new multiplayer shooter also relies on the engine and seems to be doing much better.
Arc Raiders is also technically impressive
It takes a lot of courage to release a multiplayer shooter in the short period between Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty Black Ops 7.
Genre experts refer to this as the “Titan trap” with a grimace.
The developers of “The Finals” at Embark want to prove their courage and are releasing Arc Raiders, a new extraction shooter, on October 30, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
- Last weekend, a final test run took place before the release, which attracted almost 200,000 players on Steam alone.
- The game seems to be well received by many, so the chances are actually not bad that Arc Raiders will find its audience despite the strong competition. Any doubts about the use of Unreal Engine 5 also seem to have been dispelled.
- In a recent post, X user Sebastian Castellanos also highlights the shooter’s detailed and “impressive” graphics menu.
In fact, there are numerous customization options that are clearly explained and can be tried out right away:
I just launched the ARC Raiders Playtest and man this game has one of the most impressive and detailed graphics options menus I’ve ever seen in a PC game. Kudos to @EmbarkStudios for this! pic.twitter.com/GlACi30lgR

Other users agree and praise the stable performance of Arc Raiders. However, there is also criticism.
On Reddit, for example, there is an intense discussion under a recent post about whether Embark has limited the shooter’s graphics since the last tech test:
DEAR EMBARK: Please explain, or undo this graphical downgrade for the full release. Where has all the volumetrics, lighting, and foliage gone? Sincerely everyone…

ArcRaiders
The lighting moods and fog effects in particular seem to have been more elaborate at an earlier stage.
Others argue that the textures are now higher resolution. However, there are hardly any complaints about performance.
Background: Unreal Engine 5 is considered one of the most advanced engines ever and enables impressive graphics.
Many games, most recently Silent Hill f and Borderlands 4, look great but suffer from minor stuttering or overall poor performance.
