Fans had been waiting a long time for news on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, the community’s patience was finally rewarded with the first gameplay footage of the adventure game.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has had a turbulent development history. The shooter was originally announced at E3 in 2017. However, in 2019, Nintendo decided to restart the project and handed the development work back to Retro Studios, the original developer of the Metroid Prime trilogy. Since then, the title has been rather quiet. Accordingly, the new trailer during theNintendo Direct

must have been a source of great joy.

The new trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond literally brings out the heavy artillery. From a first-person perspective, we accompany the bounty hunter Samus Arans as she lands on a rocky planet and quickly finds herself in a gunfight. With the help of her suit, she navigates through narrow shafts until she finally encounters an old enemy in a room:Sylux Fans may recognize him from the secret credits of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Although the footage shown immediately whets the appetite for more, fans will unfortunately have to be patient a little longer. As Nintendo reveals at the end of the trailer, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will not be released until 2025 Whether the shooter will be one of the first titles for the Nintendo Switch 2 remains uncertain, however. Nintendo has explicitly refused to comment on the new console.
