With Immortals of Aveum, the first game with the new Unreal Engine 5.1 will be released already at the end of July. This is also noticeable in the extremely high system requirements.

The Unreal Engine 5 has already caused astonishment in many tech demos, but hardly in finished games yet. That should change based on UE 5.1 at the end of July, when the new EA shooter Immortals of Aveum is released. However, you will need very fast hardware to enjoy the title.

The official system requirements are so high, in fact, that we can”t think of any other title off the top of our heads that would make such heavy demands on your hardware. Feel free to post in the comments if that”s different for you. How good the shooter looks can be seen in the above gameplay video.

The minimum requirements refer to playing in 60 FPS, while many other titles only target 30 FPS (if there is a corresponding specification at all). However, this (according to the developers” blog entry) only applies to low to medium details in Full HD:

Minimum system requirements of Immortals of Aveum

Settings Full HD @ 60 FPS (low to medium details)
Graphics card RTX 2080 Super / RX 5700 XT (8 GB VRAM each)
Processor Core i7 9700 / Ryzen 7 3700X
Memory  16.0 GByte
Disk 110 GByte (SSD strongly recommended)

While both the RTX 2080 Super and RX 5700 XT are older graphics cards from 2019, they still have plenty of GPU power to offer, as evidenced by their fairly high rankings in our 16 performance classes for current and older graphics cards!

In most cases, it is no problem for these GPUs to display Full HD in maximum details with 60 FPS and more. Partially, they also have enough air for the higher WQHD resolution. If this resolution is required in the case of Immortals of Aveum, the requirements increase considerably:

Recommended system requirements of Immortals of Aveum

Settings WQHD @ 60 FPS (medium to high details)
Graphics card RTX 3080 Ti (12 GB VRAM) / RX 6800 XT (16 GB VRAM)
Processor Core i7 12700 / Ryzen 7 5700X
Memory  16.0 GByte
Disk 110 GByte (SSD strongly recommended)

Despite the RTX 3080 Ti and Radeon RX 6800 XT, we are still talking about medium to high details here only . If you want to enjoy maximum details in this resolution or even with 4K resolution, you will therefore need an even faster GPU from the first three performance classes in our ranking linked above.

So the developers have decided to go all in when it comes to technology including UE5 features like Lumen and Nanite  You can learn more about these features in the article Unreal Engine 5 – All about technology, Nanite and Lumen Chief Technology Officer Mark Maratea describes their decision this way:

You can see in other fantasy games that they held back on some of the details because it wasn”t practical. We chose not to be practical. But in order to make all that work, we had to make the hard decision not to support older graphics cards and the previous generation of consoles.

In our opinion, two things are ultimately crucial when it comes to the system requirements of a game: Firstly, that the specifications are realistic. And secondly, that they are appropriate considering the game”s visuals and technology. On July 20 at the latest, we”ll be able to see for ourselves how Immortals of Avenum fares in this regard.

What do you guys have to say about Immortals of Avenum”s system requirements? Considering what we”ve seen of the game so far, perfectly fine? Unexpectedly and also unpleasantly high? Or do you have a different opinion about it? Feel free to let us know in the comments. The same goes for the question of whether the title interests you at all thematically and gameplay-wise – we”re curious!
