To probably no one’s surprise, Ubisoft recently unveiled the Black Flag remake. Now, insiders are reporting that a second Assassin’s Creed title is set to get a remake.
Theremake of Black Flagwas just officially announced, and already there are rumors about the next Assassin’s Creed, which is set to get a completely revamped version. This time, according to insiders, it’s the first game in the series from 2007’s turn.
How certain is a remake?
The well-known and reliable insider Tom Henderson claims that there will be another Assassin’s Creed remakein his podcast. According to him, it is said to be an earlier installment in the series; Henderson does not reveal any further details.
A second source claims that the game will indeed be about the first adventure with Desmond and Altair. On X/Twitter, the streamer and Ubisoft insiderjOnathan writes on X/Twitter that he had already heard in 2023 that Ubisoft was planning a remake of Assassin’s Creed. jOnathan is considered a reliable source and has made accurate predictions in the past.
I heard it from a contact back in 2023; it’s supposed to be AC1. https://t.co/ogIP4ycxJ0

Nevertheless, it’s certainly possible that Ubisoft’s plans have changed since 2023. After all, the company hasn’t exactly had an easy few years.
Ubisoft has already put a lot of work into the Black Flag remake. The entire game has been ported to the latest version of the in-house Anvil Engine, which enriches the game world with many new details. There are also gameplay updates and entirely new story missions and characters.
Given its impressive age of nearly 20 years, the first Assassin’s Creed could probably benefit from such a remake even more than Black Flag. However, there is currently no indication of what a remake might look like or whether Ubisoft has plans as extensive as those for Black Flag.
So we can only wait and see. In 2027, the first Assassin’s Creed game will celebrate its 20th anniversary—that would certainly be a fitting time for a remake announcement.
