Highlight of the week: Dead as Disco

(Genre: Action/Rhythm –Developer: Brain Jar Games –Release: May 5, 2026 (Steam/Early Access)

Dead as Disco is a beat ’em up where every punch, every kick, and every combo is meant to match the music. You play as Charlie Disco, a fallen star who takes on his former bandmates, who are now touring the world as famous idols.

That might sound unusual at first, but it’s precisely the idea of combining classic beat ’em up action with rhythm mechanics that makes Dead as Disco so exciting. You’re not just supposed to learn your opponents’ musical patterns, unlock new moves, and fight your way deeper and deeper “Into the Groove,” as Madonna would say.

Dead as Disco aims to stand out even beyond the fights:The story revolves around fame, betrayal, revenge, and a band that reunites ten years after the death of their drummer. It also features a massive soundtrack, leaderboards, unlockable outfits, and even the ability to integrate your own music to build new levels.

The game is already available atover a million wishlistsand wasone of the most popular games at the last Steam Next Fest. So if you’re not immediately put off by the colorful visuals, you might just find a real hidden gem here.
