No sign of the summer slump: This week sees the release of cool shooters, a role-playing highlight and new fodder for tactics and survival fans.

The Shooter Highlights of the Week

Trepang 2

(Genre: Shooter – Developer: Trepang Studios – Release: June 21, 2023 (Steam))

Trepang 2 is strongly inspired by the classic shooter F.E.A.R.. Here you play a super soldier with supernatural abilities, including invisibility and of course slowing down time, also known as Bullet Time

Six Days in Fallujah

(Genre: Shooter – Developer: Highwire Games – Release: 22 June 2023 (Steam – Early Access))

Six Days in Fallujah is a realistic tactical shooter that lets you replay Operation Phantom Fury from multiple perspectives, which took place in the Iraqi city of Fallujah in November 2004. In between missions, you’ll see interviews with US Marines and Iraqi civilians who were present at the battle, giving you additional details on the operations and battles against Al-Qaeda that you’ll experience in the game itself.

More Releases of the Week

Tuesday, June 20

(Aliens: Dark Descent): In this real-time tactics game, you command a squad of marines who must take on all manner of enemies from the popular film franchise.

Wednesday, June 21

(Bandit Brawler): Here you play a medieval bandit in an open world and earn money by raiding and stealing.

Thursday, 22 June

(Final Fantasy 16): The role-playing game is more action-packed than ever and aims to impress with a dark storyline that already has strong Game of Thrones vibes in trailers and the demo version. However, the title is only available exclusively for the PlayStation 5 until 31 December 2023, so there won’t be a PC release until next year at the earliest.

(Nova Lands): Similar to Factorio, you have to build huge factories and automate them.

Nova Lands

(The Bookwalker): In this round-robin tactics game, you’ll delve into famous books to steal legendary artifacts like Thor’s hammer or the sword Exkalibur.

(Mars First Logistics (Early Access)): A Mars-based construction game where you use Mars rovers to mine resources, earn money, and one day start a real Mars colony of your own.

(Forever Skies (Early Access)): With your own airship base, you explore the post-apocalyptic Earth in this survival game. Collect resources, loot ruins, craft items and upgrade your airship – the typical survival mechanics await you here.

Friday, 23 June

(Tyrion Cuthbert: Attorney of the Arcane): A Visual Novel that was clearly inspired by the Ace Attorney games. Here, too, you play a smart lawyer who has to solve criminal cases and defend his innocent clients. However, the whole thing is set in a medieval fantasy world.

Which game are you most looking forward to this week? Do you like any of the shooters or maybe the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 16 if you have a PlayStation 5? Feel free to let us know in the comments section.
