Following its rather unsuccessful attempts to establish handhelds in the budget Nitro series, Acer is now making a fresh start. The Predator Atlas 8 will be one of the first handhelds ever to rely on the new mobile Intel chips.
Acer Presents New Handheld with Intel Chip
While competitors like Asus, MSI, and Lenovo have already successfully launched their Steam Deck alternatives on the market, Acer is still lagging far behind in this area. With thenewly unveiled Predator Atlas 8 (Source: Acer.com)is intended to close this gap in 2026.
The name itself reveals two details. Acer typically markets its high-end products under the “Predator” brand. The handheld is therefore expected to be competitive in the top segment. The “8” in the name, on the other hand, stands for the display size, which will be eight inches.
Brand-new chip:The new handheld is particularly exciting because it will be one of the first to be equipped with the new Intel Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme. AMD chips have dominated the handheld market so far, and it will be interesting to see if Intel can offer a real alternative here.

The handheld is scheduled for release in October 2026. Unfortunately, Acer has not yet provided any details on pricing or the various models.
