Capcom has released a free update without prior notice, letting you guide Leon through Endless Mode.

SinceResident Evil Requiemwas released in February 2026, you’ve had a few months to play through the horror title, maybe even multiple times. Capcom has surprisingly decided to give you even more to sink your teeth into and is releasing a new update.

While this isn’t a story DLC yet, you can jump right in for free.Behind “Leon Must Die Forever” lies a brutal endless mode.

Leon Must Die Forever, looking pretty silly in the process

Leon Must Die Forever is now available on all platforms where Resident Evil Requiem can be purchased. You unlock the new mode by completing the main story. There’s also a little preview of the action:

In this game, you play as Leon in a sort ofRoguelike, where you complete 20 levels of increasing difficulty. On your journey, you collect random weapons and power-ups that are only available in this game mode.

These include severalabstruse accessories, such as a car hat. These aren’t just stylish; they also come with passive effects. The car in question, for example, optimizes reload times, healing, and grenades.

The goal is to reach the final boss within a set time limit and take him down. If you die, you start over from the beginning. The order of the areas and the types of zombies are also randomized, so every run plays out differently for you. You can also choose your base difficulty level beforehand.

Leon Must Die Forever is somewhat reminiscent of the popular Mercenaries mode in Resident Evil 4 or Ethan Must Die in Resident Evil 7. Unlike in Resi 4, however, in Requiem you are limited to Leon as the only playable character—at least for now. Perhaps the mode will get additional characters when the first DLC is released.
