The 1,911-piece PS1 model will be released on October 4. Hidden dioramas celebrate classics like Gran Turismo and Ape Escape.
LEGO and Sony unveil the new LEGO PlayStation. The new set celebrates the first game console, which was first introduced in Japan in 1994. The set, featuring the iconic gray console, also offers a few nice surprises. And no, I don’t mean the matching controller—I’m referring to details that bring a few game franchises into the little game box.
The LEGO PlayStation is coming in a few weeks
In the video description of the reveal trailer, we get a brief description of the contents: “The set includes the original PlayStation controller, a working disc tray, and two impressive dioramas hidden inside the console in honor of Gran Turismo and Ape Escape—both full of Easter eggs for true fans to discover.”
In the trailer, we see the console, the controller, and the little hidden features to discover in the LEGO PlayStation. For example, you can pull out the sides of the console like drawers to reveal a little Gran Turismo dreamscape with cute details about the franchise, and on the other side, a small pull-out world based on Ape Escape—complete with palm trees, water, and a monkey’s head.
The PlayStation’s cover can be opened. This way, you can even see both game worlds at a glance: the games inside the console. It’s somehow a beautiful, nostalgic, and harmonious image. From the outside, just a gray box from childhood; from the inside, a colorful realm you can immerse yourself in.
According to the designers, they went to great lengths to recreate the original feel and the correct proportions of the console.
To set the stage: The set will cost 159.99 euros and consists of a total of 1,911 pieces. The LEGO PlayStation will be available in the manufacturer’s store starting October 4, 2026.
