Netflix releases new scenes from the Straw Hat Crew series special. In it, the stars of the live-action series lend their voices to the LEGO characters
It’s no secret that Netflix has had great success with every iteration of the anime hit *One Piece*. The franchise has been significantly expanded with the live-action series and the upcoming reboot (*THE ONE PIECE*), and now takes the next step with the LEGO-ified version, *LEGO One Piece*. The LEGO creators are known for their very special, self-deprecating humor from their LEGO video games and are putting their own unique spin on the already crazy anime.
The two-part special premieres at the end of next month, and to get fans in the mood, Netflix has now released the official trailer for “LEGO One Piece.” The clip not only promises the usual witty LEGO humor but also outlines the overarching storyline and surprises viewers with appearances by the live-action stars.
Lysop’s Slapstick: Live-Action Meets LEGO Animation
The most interesting detail in the new trailer is the overarching storyline: Apparently, the special isn’t made up entirely of animation. The trailer shows Jacob Romero, the actor who plays Lysop in the live-action series, in a real-life setting. He recounts the Straw Hat Crew’s adventures so far to Chopper, the fans’ favorite (animated) moose—of course, in typical Lysop fashion, with massive exaggeration and embellishment.
Of course, these short scenes are likely meant only as an introduction (perhaps there will be a brief scene at the end as well), reenacting the crew’s journey as a chaotic but endearing LEGO adventure. The special not only looks back on the events of Season 1 but also offers the first hints at the upcoming Season 2 of the live-action series.
Celebrity Voices: The Live-Action Cast Is On Board
A special highlight for fans of the original: The actors from the live-action series also lend their voices to their respective LEGO minifigures in the special. In addition to Iñaki Godoy (Luffy), Emily Rudd (Nami), Mackenyu (Zoro), Taz Skylar (Sanji), and Jeff Ward (Buggy the Clown), new additions from Season 2 can also be heard: Charithra Chandran as Princess Vivi, Katey Sagal as Dr. Kureha, and Callum Kerr as Marine Captain Smoker.
It’s not yet clear whether the corresponding German voice actors will be featured in the German version, as there is still no official list of German voice actors (likely due to the AI controversy).
The “LEGO One Piece” special will be available on Netflix worldwide starting September 29, 2026.
