To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Relic is introducing new weather effects, five multiplayer maps, and improvements to Final Stand. A story DLC is also coming soon.

Relic Entertainment released Update 3.0 this evening to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Company of Heroes 3 on PC via Steam. It’s the biggest patch to date since launch, with the team overhauling nearly every aspect of the game. The standalone spin-off, Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand, also benefits from these adjustments and new features.

New weather effects such as snow and rain, dynamic wet surfaces, optimized atmospheric effects, and improved lighting for soldiers are designed to significantly enhance the visuals. These are complemented by revamped animations and new scenarios featuring industrial, winter, and fall themes.

In addition to the graphics, the audio has also been revamped: the sound effects for gunfire, impacts, explosions, and vehicle wrecks have been completely overhauled. Furthermore, a fresh selection of music expands the soundtrack to include classics from *Company of Heroes* and *Company of Heroes 2*.

Smarter AI and Five New Maps: A Breath of Fresh Air for Campaign and Multiplayer

Upgrades to the AI, as well as adjustments to gameplay and balancing, are also planned. These are intended to allow for greater tactical variety and refine the direct feel of the game on the battlefield. Relic is implementing numerous bug fixes for the dynamic Italy campaign, while also making the map clearer and easier to navigate—along with optimizations to presentation and mission progression.

The multiplayer map pool is expanding with five new locations: Ancona Railyard, Vire River Valley, Foggia Airfield, Turin Steelworks, and Mammut Radar Station. All existing battlefields are also receiving improvements—particularly extensive overhauls await you on Langres Winter, Mignano Summit, and Rapido River Crossing.

Co-op Battles in Final Stand: Dynamic Weather in Dam Busters and First Story DLC

Meanwhile, Final Stand is also receiving all the audiovisual improvements from Version 3.0—plus, you can now jump into battle with two other players in co-op mode. With “Dam Busters,” the studio is introducing a new battlefield featuring dynamic weather that affects line of sight and unit range. The package is rounded out by gameplay fixes, balance updates, additional enemy types, new abilities, and passive technologies.

Most recently, several years after launch, Relic announced the first story DLC for Company of Heroes 3. The expansion is set to release later this month.
