Earlier this year, Sony had announced the upcoming PS VR2 system for the PlayStation 5. Tonight’s State of Play revealed a selection of the games you’ll be able to use with the upcoming virtual reality set.

The new PS VR2 system is unlikely to launch until late this year or early 2023. Despite this, there are already a number of titles in development to appear on the upcoming PS5 expansion. These include Horizon Call of the Mountain, Resident Evil Village, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution and No Man’s Sky. We present the titles in detail.

Horizon Call of the Mountain

In January of this year, Guerilla Horizon had announced Call of the Mountain. During the State of Play, we were able to marvel at a first gameplay trailer and get to know the new protagonist.

A new danger is spreading in the Sun Kingdom. The former Shadow Carja warrior Ryas has the chance to redeem himself by investigating this threat more closely. We already accompany him in the trailer during this exciting mission and experience an immersive boat trip while getting up close and personal with Guardian machines.

In addition, Guerilla announced a major update for Horizon Forbidden West during State of Play. This includes a New Game+, an Ultra Heavy mode and various convenience features such as Transmog. This feature allows you to further customise Aloy’s outfits.

Resident Evil Village goes VR!

There’s a reunion with Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters! As Capcom announced tonight, Resident Evil Village will also be released for PS VR2. The announcement trailer showed us first gameplay scenes of the horror-fest still in development.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution

Skydance Interactive also got involved in the State of Play and announced The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution. Behind this long title is the direct successor to the survival horror game The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners, which was released in 2020 for various VR platforms. Now the story continues with a host of new features. Look forward to more rich detail and nighttime explorations through New Orleans.

No Man’s Sky

Since 2016, the indie title No Man’s Sky has been inviting us on an exploration mission through space. Since then, a lot has happened in the popular survival adventure. For example, developer Hello Games decided to make the move to PS VR back in 2019. Because the feature was free, No Man’s Sky became one of the VR hits overnight. Now the developers also want to get in on PlayStation’s upcoming VR system and show first gameplay scenes in the world of PS VR2.

These were the PS VR2 titles that were announced during the State of Play. A big fan favourite was also announced for PC during the livestream.
