Sony is celebrating Gran Turismo with a limited-edition DualSense controller featuring a motorsports-inspired design.

Sony is already gearing up for Gran Turismo’s 30th anniversary. To mark the anniversary, the racing game series is getting its own DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5, which stands out visually much more from the standard model than some previous special editions.

Officially called the DualSense Wireless Controller – Gran Turismo Limited Edition, the controller will be released on December 10, 2026, and will cost 84.99 euros. As Sony emphasizes, the special edition will be available only in limited quantities.

Carbon-fiber look and racing stripes

It’s based on the familiar white DualSense, which Sony has enhanced with several motorsports-inspired details. Particularly striking are the black racing stripes on the touchpad and the textured front panel around the analog sticks, designed to resemble carbon fiber.

In addition, there are numerous small graphics and symbols on the touchpad and grips. Technically, however, it is the standard DualSense. The special features are therefore limited to the design.

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi describes the controller as a tribute to the series’ history. Gran Turismo was created with the idea of conveying “the beauty and joy of the automobile.” The special edition is now intended to commemorate the shared journey of the past decades.

Pre-orders begin on October 22

Anyone who wants the controller can pre-order it starting October 22, 2026. Pre-orders begin at 10 a.m. local time in the PlayStation Direct Store and at participating retailers.

Sony is being a bit generous with the anniversary: The first Gran Turismo was released in Japan on December 23, 1997, for the original PlayStation. Strictly speaking, the series won’t celebrate its 30th anniversary until late 2027. Sony is apparently kicking off the celebrations a bit early—but better early than late.

Alongside the controller reveal, Sony also announced the first part of the Spec IV update for Gran Turismo 7. Among other things, this free update adds six more vehicles and brings Sportsland SUGO, a real-life Japanese racetrack, into the game.
