Sloclap is bringing its challenging martial arts hit to mobile devices. The new version costs just under 8 euros and features optimized touch controls.
Sifu, the martial arts action game from Sloclap released in 2022, is now available to play on smartphones. Following the announcement earlier this month, the French developer released the game today for Android and iOS.
Sifu for Your Pocket
The mobile version of Sifu costs just under 8 euros. According to the studio, it has been specially adapted for smartphone screens. As expected, there’s a new touch control system that maps the most important moves to on-screen buttons and simplifies interactions with the environment.
In addition, the ports feature a new, adaptive camera that, according to Sloclap, works significantly better on smaller screens. The developer emphasized that they worked hard to preserve Sifu’s painterly look and fluid, powerful combat for the mobile release. However, players who prefer to can still connect a controller.
The trailer shows exactly the Sifu we know—just with slightly softer graphics due to the weaker hardware.
Sifu was a huge hit with the press and sold over a million copies in its first three weeks. After initially being exclusive to PlayStation and the Epic Games Store, Sifu launched on Steam and Xbox a year later.
Sloclap then took a completely new direction with the third-person soccer game Rematch. This title also won over critics and became a commercial success, though the announcement disappointed some fans who had been hoping for a sequel to Sifu.
While Sloclap continues to release updates for Rematch, the studio’s future plans remain shrouded in mystery for now. All three of the developers’ games to date differ drastically from one another: their debut, Absolver, was a martial arts MMO, followed by the single-player kung fu hit Sifu, and finally the third-person soccer game Rematch. Which genre the studio will tackle next remains completely up in the air.
