This year, fans of unusual indie games should keep their eyes open at gamescom: Here’s the freshly revealed line-up

Always looking for games outside the mainstream? Rather a cool story or fancy gameplay than cinematic graphics? Then you probably already know the Indie Arena Booth at gamescom, where numerous small games are presented every year.

The Indie Arena Booth is back again in 2023, from 23 to 27 August – and has 160 titles in its line-up. We provide you with an overview of the most important exhibitors. The trailer offers you a foretaste here:

Which games will be shown at the Indie Arena Booth 2023?

We won’t list the entire programme for you now, the list would go beyond the scope of this article. If you really want to see all confirmed games, you can find the complete overview on the (official website) here. However, we have of course made a selection of particularly interesting games according to genre.

role-playing games

  • Dark Envoy (SciFi-Steampunk-PRG, which can also be played completely by two in co-op. After playing it we had a lot of open questions)
  • The Time I Have Left (Strong story focus, a race against time)
  • Basements n’ Basilisks: Storms of Sorcery (Fantasy tabletop as a PC game. B&B is of course zero inspired by D&D, wink wink).

    Strategy

    • Pioneers of Pagonia (Building strategy from the Settlers inventor!
    • Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew (Real-time tactics with lots of sneaking and cursed pirates!
    • Toads of the Bayou (turn-based tactics with battle toads)
    • Rising Lords (Medieval turn strategy reminiscent of a board game)

    Action

    • Gift (Sidescroller action on a sinking ship that is constantly swaying back and forth)
    • Zero Sievert (top-down shooter with a procedurally generated pixel world)
    • First Dwarf (Action-building mix with a dwarf who develops mechs)
    • Phantom Fury (Retro shooter starring Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison, known from Bombshell and Ion Fury)

We will of course keep our eyes open for particularly exciting reveals. On GlobalESportNews you will not only find out what is happening every day at gamescom 2023, but also which insider tips we have unearthed for you.

We need your support: Do you have your eye on certain games at the Indie Arena Booth? Then please write it down in the comments below, it is of course important for us to know which titles you are particularly interested in! Otherwise, you’re welcome to just let us surprise you with the programme we’ve prepared for you.
