This weekend there are also free games in the Free Weekend. We summarise all the free candidates for you.

Is there a better word than free? Well, probably a lot, because there are costs involved in Free, but the point of this introduction is just to get you in the mood for the Free Weekend, as we do every week: Because this weekend, too, there are four free games – one of which you can even keep permanently.

But an announcement first: As every year, the Steam Next Festival is currently running. During this festival, you can try out hundreds of demos of upcoming games – logically also for free. Included, for example, is the very exciting construction game The Wandering Village, as well as the hard-hitting Occupy Mars and the rebirth of the classic: Pharaoh. Scroll down yourself ( via Steam’s demo overview), maybe there’s something for you.

So, and now for the entertaining free blockbusters.

Highlight of the week: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

(Genre: Action-Adventure – Developer: Ubisoft – Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series – Release: 10. November 2020 – Available: Ubisoft Connect (Uplay) – Action End: February 28, 2022)

Ubisoft is celebrating the upcoming release of the big DLC Dawn of Ragnarok for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. And what better way to promote the addon than with a free promotion? Until the end of the month, you can try out AC Valhalla in its entirety for free – of course, this only applies to the basic game, but that alone will easily keep you busy for 50 to 60 hours.

In Valhalla you take on the role of the Viking force of nature Eivor, explore early medieval Britain, conquer enemy fortifications, take part in siege battles, expand your own settlement and search for lots of keys and explosive vases to unlock new weapons, armour and upgrades. Those who have played the Assassin’s Creeds since Origins will immediately find their way around.

After several patches, Valhalla is now in a much better technical condition than it was when it was released. If you’re in the mood for one of the most opulent current open worlds this weekend, then take a look. Follow this link (to the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla free promotion). By the way, all other Assassin’s Creeds are also heavily discounted.

More exciting free games

In addition to AC Valhalla, three more games are free – one on Epic, two on Steam. Let’s break down the contenders

Free on Epic: You can keep this game permanently

* (Cris Tales): On Epic, the role-playing game Cris Tales is completely free. This love letter to JRPG masterpieces like Chrono Trigger is aimed at genre fans and enchants with a rather unique look. Editor Steffi Schlottag tells you more:

Free on Steam: Two games for free this weekend

The free games on Steam are only available during Free Weekends. So you can try them out for free in their entirety, but only until 7pm on Monday. After that, the games disappear from your library.

* (Crystal Raiders VR) : Solo or in co-op, explore a sinister castle and face all kinds of challenges. Only playable with VR headset

* (Deep Rock Galactic):

Deep Rock Galactic: If you like co-op, you simply have to get it now

Did we miss another game? Does a particular demo in the Steam Festival catch your eye? Feel free to drop us any other suggestions in the comments. And if you don’t have time for all that anyway, because you’re busy with Elden Ring, then … praise the sun!
