Fallout: New California is based on Fallout: New Vegas but tells a completely new story. This ambitious mod can now be easily installed on GOG.
While Bethesda has since confirmed that several new Fallout games are already in development, they’re all likely still quite a while away. Fortunately, fans have already built plenty of new worlds for the existing Fallout games, and one of the biggest is now easier to play than ever before!

What is Fallout: New California?
New California delivers a completely new story for Fallout: New Vegas—for free—including a new game world, numerous characters, factions, companions, and two radio stations. The story begins before the events of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. You play as a resident of Vault 18 who must flee the bunker following a civil war triggered by the Enclave.
Similar to Fallout: New Vegas, as the story progresses, you join a faction of your choice (such as the New California Republic or the Survivalist Raiders) and experience a branching narrative with thirteen different endings.
While Fallout: New California may only take you 10 to 30 hours to complete, depending on your playstyle, there’s a massive world to explore that’s about two-thirds the size of the Mojave. After finishing the game, you can also continue playing as the Courier and experience the original New Vegas.
Fallout: New California isn’t without its critics among fans; in particular, the storytelling doesn’t appeal to everyone for various reasons. Nevertheless, you’ll find many players on Reddit who encourage you to give the mod a try.
