Dispatch has finally been officially released on Xbox Series X/S as of July 29, 2026. After a long wait during which the game was simply listed as “coming this summer,” Xbox players no longer have to wait. A launch trailer also sets the stage perfectly for this wild adventure. For anyone who’s been avoiding this wacky superhero action so far, it’s definitely worth a look.
An office job with a twist: Dysfunctional heroes in action
The first sentence in the description sums up the game perfectly: “Lead a dysfunctional team of misfits, decide who to send to emergencies across the city, and skillfully navigate office politics on your own path to heroism.”
As a former hero, we now find ourselves stuck in a massive office complex, managing other heroes. Of course, we’ve been stuck with a dysfunctional team made up of former villains. Tensions both within and outside the team make things difficult for Robert, all while he longs for his days of heroism.
Thanks to the collaboration between AdHoc Studio and Critical Role—a group of voice actors and performers best known for their long-running D&D campaigns like *The Legend of Vox Machina*—the game features an incredible cast of amazing voices. The humor is anything but family-friendly and occasionally distracts from just how deep the characters really are.
Exciting gameplay loop meets cinematic presentation
The gameplay is multifaceted. Most of the time, you manage your small group of heroes, each of whom brings different strengths, abilities, and synergies to the table. As a result, missions can go off without a hitch or end in total chaos. You also have the opportunity to hack during missions, which takes the form of a skill-based minigame. Outside of your missions, you’ll make several decisions that can have a massive impact on Robert’s story.
The game was extremely successful and even surprised the developers, who reached their three-year goal in record time. It’s not yet clear whether there will be asequel, and even if there is, we’ll probably have to wait a while. But Dispatch is definitely worth a look—it’s no coincidence that Alex gave the game a full five stars in ourreview.
