Development on Mindfactory shows: Currently, AMD sells more graphics cards than Nvidia and still has the financial disadvantage

AMD is currently stalking past Nvidia and has the lead in Mindfactory’s sales figures. However, Nvidia still earns more money with its products.

The X-user (formerly Twitter) TechEpiphany has once again done the work of comparing the graphics card manufacturers Nvidia, AMD and Intel.

For his weekly analysis, he uses data from German retailer Mindfactory and goes into detail about sales figures and turnover in the store.

What did TechEpiphany find out?

Looking at the latest figures, it found that AMD has overtaken its competitor Nvidia piece by piece within calendar weeks (CW) 21 to 42 – literally. However, if you look at the sales figures of the last few weeks, this development is somewhat regressive again.

Currently, it is still enough for first place: In terms of units, AMD sold 2,035 graphics cards to Mindfactory customers in week 42 according to TechEpiphany.

Nvidia only sold 1,745 graphics cards in comparison. Unsurprisingly, Intel brings up the rear: only 15 corresponding graphics cards crossed the counter here.

Nevertheless, Nvidia is the winner when you look at the turnover. Proportionally, Nvidia earned 54.15% and AMD only 45.69%. The rest was left for Intel.

Why does Nvidia still have the lead? It is mainly due to the higher unit prices of both manufacturers. Nvidia’s models are usually a bit more expensive than AMD’s, and AMD also does not have a particularly expensive top model like Nvidia in the form of the RTX 4090 in its lineup.

AMD’s RX 7800 XT graphics card sold particularly well recently with a unit count of 670. It was closely followed by the comparably fast Nvidia RTX 4070 card, which changed hands 450 times in total.

Which graphics card variants are particularly popular at the moment?

In addition, TechEpiphany names the three individual variants that have sold the most. According to this, the three models are:

1. XFX Radeon RX 6800 SWFT 319 Core Gaming,

2. MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ventus 2X OC

3. PowerColor Radeon RX 7800 XT Hellhound

While the RX 7800 XT and the RTX 4070 are the top models in the price range of about 530 to 600 Euros, the individual models are cheaper with costs of about 450 Euros (RX 6800) and 300 Euros (RTX 3060), respectively.

The figures from Mindfactory, however, generally represent a certain special case, as they are limited to the German market and the single purchase of GPUs mainly reflects the interest of PC self-builders.

In the overall market, on the other hand, Nvidia is generally far ahead, as Steam’s monthly (Hardware survey) shows, among other things.

What do you think about the most sold models at Mindfactory? Do they come as a surprise to you or did you expect them? Do you also own a RTX 4070 or a RX 7800 XT or which GPU do you currently use? Feel free to write us in the comments.
