A project currently in development brings dive bombs, akimbo action, and a new clothing system to the cyberpunk landmark.

You’re probably familiar with the classic first-person perspective of Deus Ex, as is usually the case with immersive sims. But how about a different viewpoint for a change?

YouTuber dan2091 released several clips last week showcasing a third-person mod for Deus Ex that is currently still in development.

It’s not entirely clear whether the project is his own creation, as the video descriptions and the channel itself don’t really indicate that. However, the clips make it clear that more than just the camera angle is being adjusted here.

Clothing, dual-wielding, and dive jumps: AI animations turn JC Denton into Max Payne

One of the clips, for example, showcases a clothing system for protagonist JC Denton, allowing him to look his best in the new view. The YouTuber also demonstrates custom-created climbing animations and a dual-wielding mechanic for weapons.

You can leap through the air just as gracefully as Max Payne does in the games of the same name, all while firing two pistols at your enemies. In an accompanying text, dan2091 explains that he used AI to port some animations from the Remedy hero’s moveset into the Ion Storm title. All of this gives the classic a whole new dynamic and might be of particular interest to those hoping for a subtle refresh for Deus Ex.

Of course, you’re already familiar with third-person sections from the newer installments, *Human Revolution* and *Mankind Divided*. When you take cover in those games, the camera switches to a third-person perspective to give you a better overview.
