Moo. Moo, moo. Moo. Moo, moo moo. Moooooo. Moooo. Moo, moo. Moo. Moo. Moo moo?

They just won’t give up hope. Although Diablo fans have been desperately searching for it for nearly three years, no actual cow level has appeared inDiablo 4to date. Yet there have already been tons of elaborate plans designed to finally bring such an Easter egg to light. All in vain.

Now, on April 28, the new expansionLord of Hatredwas released, and fans promptly found tons of completely new clues suggesting that a cow level might actually exist after all. At the very least, hope within the community has been reignited in an instant.

These are the new clues about the Cow Level

Two new items have been discovered that are likely clues to the existence of the Cow Level or possibly the keys to unlocking it:

  • The Cow King’s Crown:Fans quickly noticed that there is a new cosmetic item in the game. If you visit the wardrobe and look under the helmets, you’ll find a locked cosmetic called The Cow King’s Crown. A clear reference to the Cow King from previous Cow Levels. There is still no reliable method to unlock this cosmetic. Some fans assume it’s a random drop.
  • The Rusty Cowbell:Additionally, with the new fishing rod, it’s now possible to pull a rusty cowbell out of the water. Here, too, it seems to depend on chance whether you can fish the bell up or not. It has no apparent use.

These are the two most recent discoveries that are fueling fans’ hopes for a Cow Level. Especially since Lord of Hatred is supposed to be the final expansion for Diablo 4 and thus one of the last chances to discover a Cow Level after all.

But there are even more reasons why fans are once again fired up—or rather, full of milk and udders—to find the cow level right now.

  • The Horadrim Cube:With Lord of Hatred, there is finally a Horadrim Cube in the game again. It was used to craft items in Diablo 2, and now it’s back. More importantly, however: The cube was always necessary to reach the Cow Level in the past. Fans now expect the cube to open the gate to the cows in Diablo 4 as well.

  • Developer hints:On top of that, even before the expansion’s release, the developers dropped a surprising number of hints that there might be a cow level.& nbsp;In a stream two developers were seen wearing a curious shirt. It featured a monster that looked like a cross between a cow and a fish.

The latest clues?

These new discoveries are by no means the only ones, nor even the clearest clues that there might be a cow level in the game. People have been searching for it nonstop ever since the base game was released. Here are a few more clues that have already been found:

  • The Fountain:A curious cow fountain was already discovered in the base game. Items can be sacrificed here, but we simply don’t know yet which ones they actually are.

  • The Cow Cellar:Even in Vessel of Hatred, players could find a cellar where a few cows were just standing around. Was that possibly the “Cow Level” already? You have to go through a pretty complicated process just to enter the cellar.

  • The Halberd:In the Cow Cellar, there is also a halberd, similar to the ones the cows wielded in the earlier Cow Levels in Diablo 2 and 3. The weapon also smells like manure, making it another important item in the search for the Cow Level.

So the clues are piling up. But even with all of this, no actual Cow Level has been discovered yet. Maybe it’s just a matter of time, or maybe there really isn’t one and all the clues are just Easter eggs. Blizzard says, “There is no Cow Level,” but nobody has believed them since Diablo 2 anyway. Moo.
