Bottlenecks in the production of GDDR7 memory chips are expected to delay or even halt the planned release of Nvidia’s upcoming RTX 50 Super models.

At the end of September, there were already indications that Nvidia might reissue some graphics cards from the RTX 5000 series as so-called Super Refreshes. Even then, it was becoming apparent that Nvidia would probably not release the new graphics cards in January 2026, but rather between March and May 2026.

Now there are signs that potential bottlenecks in the production of GDDR7 memory chips could further thwart Nvidia’s plans.

This is what happened: The well-known  Leaker UNIKO’s Hardware claims that bottlenecks in memory chip production have led to Nvidia not releasing the Super graphics cards. In addition, existing Nvidia graphics cards are expected to increase in price soon.

However, the leaker also writes that this is a rumor.

Due to the current shortage, 3 GB GDDR7 cannot be brought to the consumer market for desktop PCs, so the Super series will be discontinued.

It is expected that the current models will become more expensive in the foreseeable future due to the rising cost of 2 GB GDDR7.

Contradiction by other leaker

The equally well-known  Leaker MEGAsizeGPU contradicts the statement that Nvidia has put the Super Refresh on hold.

Nvidia will launch the graphics cards, but not until the third quarter of 2026 at the earliest, rather than in the first quarter of the year as previously planned.

No cancellation yet, just a delay. The launch is now planned for the third quarter of 2026, whereas it was previously scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.

And the current models are expected to become more expensive very soon as the cost of 2 GB GDDR7 rises.

Both agree that Nvidia could raise the prices of current graphics cards soon in response to the problems with memory chip production.

The RTX 5060 Ti 16G model in particular is highlighted by the leakers in this context.

Now we want to hear your opinion. Are you planning to buy a new graphics card soon, or are you satisfied with your current one? Feel free to leave us a comment.
