A new boss monster appears to be on the horizon in the current Blood Testament event.
Update:The servers are now online with the new update, so Blood Testament has officially begun.
It was already known that the next season ofHunt: Showdown 1896would be quite a substantial update: As we reported in late August, Blood Testament is set to be the shooter’s “biggest and bloodiest” event yet.
The trailer sets the stage for the blood moon, which rises menacingly over all four Hunt maps:
Schedule for Blood Testament:
- The Hunt servers will go offline on September 8, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
- Downtime is expected to last 4 hours (subject to change)
- Blood Testament will be live and playable starting Tuesday at approximately 1:00 p.m.
Blood Moon Returns in Three Phases
The roadmap already shows just how packed this update will be! In addition to the usual new features, such as a fresh Battle Pass, there’s a three-stage community event tied tothe new Blood Wells.
Every location on all maps features one of these supernatural blood wells, from which players can draw event points and new perks. Once all players worldwide have earned enough points, the next phase of the event begins:
- Phase 1:The Blood Moon is available as a new time of day—when the clouds part and its light shines unobstructed, all monsters go into a frenzy.
- Phase 2:Chupacabra is unlocked as a new perk—players can restore a depleted health bar using the blood of horses, crows, or an animal pen.
- Phase 3:A new monster is unlocked—it was previously unclear what it was, but fans have solved the mystery.

The Big Reveal: The New Monster
As users on Reddit noted, Crytek apparently accidentally revealed the new addition to the Bayou itself—at least in part.
During the official Blood Testament livestream, the icon for a new bosswas briefly visible!
The monster’s profile doesn’t match any of the known bosses in Hunt: Showdown so far. The logical conclusion: It must be a completely new boss. Since no second target was active, the community believes it can’t be a Wild Target either.

If these clues are correct, this isn’t a mini-boss, but ratherthe first completely new major bosssince the introduction of Scrapbeak in 2021.

The last time they added a new Bounty Boss was Scrapbeak, and that was 5 years ago. It was so damn exciting. A new hideout, new mechanics, and something new to fight. For many of us, the atmosphere makes up 75 percent of the game. And stuff like that just always creates an amazing vibe.
What exactly is behind it?
A new main boss with its own hideout and new mechanics would be ahuge step forward for Hunt: Showdown. Bosses are the central gameplay element of the shooter and require players to work together and develop new tactics.
After all, they’re the linchpin of the extraction mechanic: the bounty for a boss trophy is the very reason hunters compete in a match in the first place.
Of course, they’re also a major highlight of the game’s atmosphere. The community has been eagerly anticipating a new one of these terrifying beasts for quite some time now.
Now, fans are naturally buzzing with speculation about exactly what kind of monster the leak might be. Given the season’s “Blood Moon” theme, several users are guessing it could be a vampire or a werewolf. The leaked silhouette doesn’t reveal much. The monster hasn’t been officially announced yet.
What has been confirmed, however, is the new Burgess Shotgun as a new addition to the weapon arsenal, a new tool, additional tarot cards, as well as a separate Halloween event and more challenges.
