Buyers have been waiting for this for almost two years: Update 0.10, coming in December, features a fully drivable Eifel region—including the Nürburgring—a day-night cycle, and real traffic.
For fans of challenging racing simulations, Assetto Corsa Evo was once at the very top of their wish lists. Developer Kunos Simulazioni promised a realistic driving experience and, in addition to the usual tracks, a 1,600-square-kilometer open world set in Germany’s Eifel region.
When the title launched in Early Access on Steam on January 16, 2025, many were left disappointed. There was no sign of the open world, and with currently only 59 percent positive reviews, the project is rated merely “Mixed” there.
But now things are set to improve, as the long-awaited Update 0.10 for Assetto Corsa Evo is scheduled for release on December 9, 2026. At the Sim Racing Expo trade show in Frankfurt, the developers announced the release of the freely explorable game world with a new trailer:
A Trip to the Countryside
The new mode called Free Roam takes you straight to the heart of German motorsports: the Eifel region. At the center of the first area lies the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. After Update 0.10, you’ll be able to leave the circuit at will to explore surrounding villages, winding country roads, and unpaved gravel paths.
The developers are recreating selected areas of the region on a 1:1 scale. This is based on real survey data. Landmarks, elevation profiles, and road layouts are designed to feel as authentic as possible. Initially, not all 1,600 square kilometers will be included, but Kunos plans to expand the open world bit by bit over the course of Early Access.
The world of Assetto Corsa Evo is designed to feel alive thanks to a dynamic weather system and day-night cycles. You won’t be alone on the roads either, as computer-controlled traffic simulates everyday driving situations. Those looking for competition will find seamlessly integrated activities, including time trial challenges against the clock.
If you’d like to get a first-hand look at the long-awaited open world in Assetto Corsa Evo, you can try out the mode at the Sim Racing Expo in Frankfurt. The expo takes place from October 16 to 18, and you’ll find the game stations in Hall 12.
