Patch 1.1.2 was supposed to promote bartering, but Blizzard is now putting a stop to the latter. A new exploit in the game is to blame.

Blizzard surely imagined the release of patch 1.1.2 for Diablo 4 differently. Who wants to have to pull the emergency brake shortly after the release of the update? But the developers were forced to do something – they stopped all trading between players until further notice. The reason: a new exploit.

Trade between players has been exploited

In the official Diablo forum Blizzard describes (in a post) the current situation:

We have suspended the ability to trade between players until further notice due to an exploit that can lead to doubling of gold or items. We are working on a fix to address this issue and will let you know when we re-enable trading.

Once that happens, we will continue to monitor activity around trading to ensure a healthy gaming experience for all. As always, any account guilty of exploiting exploits around multiplying gold or items will be sanctioned in accordance with the Terms of Service.

Thank you for the reports on this exploit and your patience

This situation makes one of the great innovations of patch 1.1.2 absurd. Because one of the points from the changelog to today’s update announces that all players are now directly in the trade chat when logging in. Having to suspend the player trade now brings a touch of tragic comedy with it.

Not the only exploit

While Blizzard is forced to publicly address an exploit and even temporarily block a core feature because of it, other duplication exploits exist. Even the latest patch has apparently not taken them out of the game. Of course, we won’t go into detail about the illicit tricks here.

As Blizzard states above, you can be permanently banned for exploiting such unintentional bugs in the game

Do you even miss the trading opportunity now that an exploit has forced Blizzard to put a temporary end to the lively swapping? Or do you mostly just play for yourselves anyway? And when you do trade, do you use the in-game chat or do you prefer to use Discord and the like? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments!
