AMD is delivering the opening keynote at IFA 2026. Jack Huynh, who led the development of AMD’s console chips, will be on stage—though gaming is unlikely to be a major topic.

IFA 2026 is just about a month away: From September 4 to 8, Berlin will once again host one of the year’s biggest tech trade shows. For 2026, the trade show is bringing back a name that has been missing for a long time: AMD will be exhibiting again from September 4 to 8—and will immediately take the most prominent slot.

Jack Huynh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Computing and Graphics Group at AMD, will deliver the opening keynote on September 4 at 11 a.m. on the Innovation Stage. The title of the presentation, however, leaves little room for gaming news: it’s titled “The Era of Personal AI: The Future of Imagination.”

“Personal AI”: What AMD Means by the Term

Exactly what will be shown in Berlin remains unclear. The keynote is scheduled to according to IFA outline AMD’s vision for the next era of computing: AI is transforming “the relationship between humans and technology and opening up new horizons for human imagination, creativity, and possibilities.”

AMD’s return underscores the growing importance of computing and artificial intelligence for the consumer tech market.

High-performance processors, graphics solutions, and AI accelerators now form the technological foundation for numerous applications—from mobile computing and gaming to content creation and personalized, intelligent user experiences.

IFA Press Release

Huynh himself appearedremained tight-lipped during the IFA announcement, but at least hinted about two weeks ago at what AMD means by “Personal AI.” On X, the AMD manager painted a picture of a Ryzen AI computer on every desk, whose AI agents process local data overnight and only access the cloud when necessary.

Ryzen AI Max Pro 400: The Most Likely Candidate

A specific product announcement has yet to be made in this context, but there is one very likely contender: The APUs known as the Ryzen AI Max Pro 400 were already showcased at Computex 2026 last June; the first models are scheduled for shipment in the third quarter—and September, the final month of this quarter, is just around the corner.

On paper, the series features up to 16 Zen 5 cores clocked at 5.2 GHz, 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units, and 192 GB of shared memory.

Two expectations can be derived from this: A laptop update based on the current architecture fits well with the IFA, which features a dedicated computing and gaming section in addition to home appliances. New Ryzen desktops with Zen 6 or Radeon cards with RDNA 5, on the other hand, are unlikely to be showcased on stage.
