PlayStation: Accounts are permanently blocked and nobody knows why

The frustration is currently being vented on Reddit and Twitter – where no one claims to have done anything illegal. Are data leaks or hackers behind this again?

There’s a lot going on around PlayStation, as many people are currently being banned. According to users, this is happening on X and Reddit for no reason. In addition, there is no way to trace this exclusion via the support

The ban hammer is currently hitting users at random

On Monday, several users reported that they had allegedly been arbitrarily banned from the PS network. This normally only happens if the Terms of Service are violated

For example, insults or threats can lead to exclusion. In addition, cheating attempts – if detected – are also punished with a permanent ban.

In the case of Michael Dhaliwal on X (formerly Twitter), this does not seem to be the case – at least according to his claim. In any case, no reason is given on his ban message, which makes it impossible for him or outsiders to understand the ban

A post on Reddit garnered over 450 comments

The Reddit user BO-DACIOUS55 posted a similar image on r/playstation 10 months ago. Below that, the comment column seemed to pick up speed again in recent weeks

My account permanently suspended for no reason Please somebody tell me there’s a way to fix this.

The user waayldcaau commented a few hours ago under this post that the problem had also hit him without warning:

Same here…. I turned on my PS5 and the login screen came up. Wondered why I was signed out. Tried to sign in and then get a warning that my account is permanently locked. No emails, no warnings, nothing.

The user RobertKelly77 wrote below:

Yeah, same here, permanent ban a few hours ago. I haven’t been on my PlayStation for a few weeks, so no reason.

Another user with the name LetsGoBiden suspected a perfidious attack on the PS5 accounts underneath:

This just happened to me, I wonder if they’ve been hacked again…

So he suspects a data leak at Sony, as a result of which account data has fallen into the hands of hackers. This could result in suspicious activities being carried out on the accounts without the users’ knowledge. The ban could be the result of this

In the past, for example, a hacker collective claimed that it possessed important data. Sony did not enter into the deal at the time.

Important: This is pure speculation. If you are still unsure, you can of course change your password. Depending on whether it is a hack or a data leak, this can at least make it more difficult to take over your account – at least as long as the alleged hackers do not have live access to your passwords.

No response yet from Sony

According to the magazine TheVerge Sony has not yet responded to their inquiry as to what happened. There is also no indication on the support page. This also applies to AskPlayStation on X. So there is nothing left to do but wait until Sony has recognized the problem.

What do you think about these reports? Are you also affected? Do you think that Sony has been hacked again or that the data has been lost in some other way? Or do supposedly innocent people here want their lost accounts back? Would that be possible on this scale? Let us know your thoughts in the comments:
