CoD Warzone 2: Skin sells better on Steam than GTA 5, gamers fear big problem

A new skin for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 lands in the top sellers on Steam. The reason for this, however, is questionable.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 sold faster at launch than any CoD before, and made its way into Steam”s top sellers, where it can still be found pretty high up. But recently a new skin for the shooter was added, which even made it to 11th place for a while. Why it is so popular and why many players see a problem with it, you can find out here.

Is the infamous Roze skin back?

You can see a picture of the popular skin above. It is the outfit of a team from the Call of Duty league, the Los Angeles Thieves. At first glance, the thing doesn”t seem to be particularly striking, the skin is completely black, except for some red details with the team”s name. Nevertheless, numerous players are shelling out 10 euros for it on Steam: The package is currently still in 22nd place in the top sellers, far ahead of perennial favourites such as GTA 5.

Is there a competitive advantage?

The reason for the popularity is probably not so much that LA Thieves have so many fans in the community. Instead, they probably hope to gain an advantage over others. One LA Thieves player – whether this is meant seriously or not remains to be seen – is promoting his team”s skin on Twitter with precisely this promise:

For example, @T_Munch3 argues on Twitter that the problem with the Roze skin was a bug, not its black colour. Because there were other black skins that would not have been a problem. And also in the (Reddit of Modern Warfare) 2 many are of the opinion that there is no advantage with the new skin.

So ( writes SodaBranch) that in Warzone 2 the graphics and lighting are much better, so you can see enemies more clearly. And (SmellsLikeBeefFillet replies) that in the desert landscape of Al Mazrah, rather lighter skins are harder to see. In another thread (noticedJimmyJohnny2) then furthermore:

Whether the buyers of the skin, who not only want to support their favourite team, have done themselves a favour is therefore questionable. Nevertheless, you must currently expect to encounter many real or fake (Fans of the LA Thieves) in matches.
