Call of Duty is bringing loadout drops back to Battle Royale. Many fans hope the feature will stay, but the developers haven’t decided anything yet.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has a lot in common with its predecessor. But by no means everything. There are important innovations in the loadout drops that don’t go down well with everyone. The boxes with your personal weapon and equipment sets can no longer be requested via the purchase station, but fall from the sky late in the match – and then, of course, all the teams fight over them. Alternatively, you get loadouts as a reward for conquering AI fortresses.

But now the new system is loosened up in Season 1 Reloaded, at least for a short time. We have all the important info on the loadout grenades and all the changes.

A hefty price, then, especially since there’s not a lot of cash lying around on Al Mazrah. For your dollars you get a loadout grenade, which you throw at a spot where a loadout box pops up after a few seconds. So be careful where you request the drop, so that you don’t get caught off guard by an enemy Lionel Messi when you’re looting.

What do the fans say? Many had been calling for the return of traditional loadout drops since the beginning. Others, however, feel that Warzone 2 is fairer because you have to deal with the random loot from the arena instead of holding your preferred loadout in your hands after just a few minutes. Plenty of material for heated debates on (Reddit), (Twitter) and co. What pretty much everyone agrees on: The current drops are hard to fund, especially for squads, especially if you don’t manage to crack a vault.

Will the loadout grenades be permanent? That depends on how the community reacts to it and how it affects balancing, according to Warzone developer Raven Software. It has not yet been decided whether the feature will remain in the game permanently or whether it will be removed again soon.

Early Christmas present

Everything is back to square one in Warzone 2.0 on 20 December after developer Raven Software updated the game so that loadout drops can now be bought in Buy Stations after all.

For many, it is nothing less than an early Christmas present, which makes the festive season a little sweeter.

As the developers announced, it will now be possible to buy loadout grenades at buy stations, just like in Warzone Caldera. However, unlike in the Battle Royale predecessor, the prices for these are not fixed at $10,000 but are graded according to squad size.

While the price for solo adventurers has actually dropped, duos, trios and quads now have to dig much deeper into their pockets:

  • Solos – $8,000
  • Duos – $16,000
  • Trios – $24,000
  • Quads – $32,000

    Durable solution?

In another tweet, Raven Software shared that the change is temporary for now and depending on the feedback from the community, they will consider making it permanent. The comments under the tweets speak a clear language.

Although many are upset about the high prices for the loadout drops, one has to look for negative comments for a long time. The community is enthusiastic about the new path that those responsible have taken.

As was the case after the changes on 19 December, many players are now celebrating Raven Software as a saviour in need.

While developer Infinity Ward was repeatedly accused of only selectively listening to feedback from the community, Raven Software has already ensured after just a few days that a large part of the gaming community can once again identify with Warzone 2.0.

What do you think of the new loadout grenades? Do you prefer the old Warzone system or do you prefer to play without loadouts? Feel free to drop us a line in the comments.
