The developers of Battlefield 6 have big plans for 2026 and are delivering what fans have been asking for since launch.
Battlefield Studios has unveiled a new roadmap and a detailed trailer showing what you can expect in Battlefield 6 over the next two—actually, three—seasons. The maps are getting bigger, and the server browser is finally coming. Fans are getting what they want. The question is: Will it happen in time?
Before we get to that, let’s take a look at what was actually shown.

Battlefield 6: Season 3 Preview (Start: May)
The third major content pack focuses entirely on remakes for the maps. Unsurprisingly, as it had already been leaked, Railway to Golmund will expand the map pool. The classic from Battlefield 4 will be thoroughly revamped and is also set to be four times as large as the BF6 map Mirak Valley.
Map number 2 is also a reimagining of a familiar battlefield:Cairo Bazaaris a variation ofGrand Bazaarfrom Battlefield 3.
In addition, Redsec players can look forward to solo matches and a ranked mode for quads. The roadmap also promises new weapons and modes, but is sparing with details.
Battlefield 6: Season 4 Preview (Launch: July)
EA continues to ride the wave of nostalgia and is bringing a reimagining ofWake Island. Both on this map and on the brand-new mapTsuru Reef, BF6 will featurenaval combatfor the first time.
In addition to small assault boats, there are alsoaircraft carriersfrom which you take off in your fighter jets. Furthermore, adynamic wave systemadds realism and tactical depth, for example when you use high waves as cover.
It’s set to get even bigger: Golmund is expected to surpass Tsuru Reef in scale once again. No concrete details about weapons or modes have been revealed for Season 4.
More Updates in 2026
The following features currently have no specific release window:
- Server Browser
- Proximity Chat
- Platoons
- Multiplayer Leaderboards
In addition, the maps New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields, which are rather unpopular with the community, are set to be revamped. Exactly what that means has not yet been revealed.
Season 5is even set to featurethree new maps, but the developers don’t want to reveal any more than that just yet.
Personally, I think Battlefield 6 is a pretty good shooter, and it would really help me if I could finally get rid of all those yellow dots that keep coming back. From DICE’s perspective, community requests like a server browser and larger maps are actually being addressed fairly quickly. It takes time to implement such things, even if one might have guessed that before release.
From the players’ perspective, however, two seasons have already passed, and waiting the rest of the year for all these things to happen might be too long for some. I think many will be satisfied with the direction, but important things like new weapons, gadgets, and class balancing—which is currently very focused on the Medic and Engineer—are still unresolved.
Service games have to deliver season after season; otherwise, players will switch to the next title. There’s another Call of Duty coming out this year, which is probably eager to win back the players it lost to BF6.
I think if Season 3 is a hit and DICE stays the course, it’ll still be a good year for Battlefield 6. It remains to be seen whether enough players will stick around by then to make it worthwhile for EA.
